Why do you charge for a photo shoot?

      
  The value of the photo shoot is the combination of my skills as a photographer, access to a professional studio, profession lighting equipment, profession camera, variety of lenses, possibly choice of wardrobe or props; and then computer hardware and software for post production and finishing of you images.  All the details matter. Each step requires knowledge, experience and the results are the images you see. You are paying for all of this as part of your professional photography experience and in many cases the result is a work of art. Therefore I hope you understand why as a rule I do not do TFP. Please check out my galleries for examples.      
Q How long does a photo shoot take?      
  A number of variables dictate the time in front of the camera including your experience and the number of “looks” you desire.  Historically most shoots last between 1 ½ to 3 hours. If you have a time consideration, please let me know up front and I can work with your timeframe to get the shoot completed to your satisfaction. A typically shoot will go as follows:  When you arrive we will get you comfortable and discuss the shoot (goals, wardrobe, looks etc…), next you might have profession make-up applied and possibly hair styled.   It is important you arrive on time and prepared, this will lead to the best possible shoot.  I will answer any questions you might have at any time.  Remember, the goal is to create beautiful images for you, so your comfort level is a primary consideration.Please see my rates for details on the different shoots and length of time estimated for each.      
Q Do you provide prints of the photos?      
 

I can print images for you, however it is my experience that by giving you control of your images allows you to pick the specifics, including the convenience, quantity and size that you desire.  Therefore you will receive a disk or access to your digital images within a week to 10 days, from this I can recommend ways in which you can print professional quality images as needed.  In addition, you can always contact me later should something happen to your copy of the images to make arrangements for replacements.  Our agreement will determine the number of unedited and edited images (print ready). So please review my rates and determine the best fit for you..

     
Q Do you travel?      
  Yes, a number of my customers are from out of state, and I enjoy traveling quite a bit.  However, please consider everything for which you are paying with regards to the shoot, now add the time and effort it takes to travel with my equipment.    That said, an option I offer is  I will tour locations based on demand for my services, this has included most of the Southwest United States.  So please let me know your needs and we can determine how best to address your situation.  For where I will be please look at my Events page, I might be someplace close to you!      
Q Can I bring a friend to my photo shoot?      
  I welcome your friends to meet me and make sure you are in good hands, remember it is all about the best photo shoot experience and results.  Therefore, the photo shoots are closed sets, meaning the photographer, make-up artist and possible an assistant are the only ones around during the shoot.  This is for both our sakes, as the fewer distractions the better the experience.  In addition, I recommend you turn off and put away your cell phone, if this is important and we have time we can plan a break to address urgent matters.      
Q What resources do you have?      
  I use a Canon 40D, vaiety of lenses (ranging from fisheye 8mm to 200mm telephoto, Dyna-lite lights, quality backdrops, the latest software (CS4 Adobe Photoshop, & Adobe Lightroom 2.4) all are examples of professional level equipment. What this means is I can create the best possible images for you. However, it is the quality of equipment AND my skills that creates what you see.      
Q Can you arrange for models?      
  In some cases yes, I have a few high quality professional models with whom I work on a regular basis for comercial shoot, live events and artistic visions. So, if you need a specific look or you are a model interested in working regularly, please let me know info@photosbydaveed.com
